Podcast and digital audio audiences are on the rise during containment in France.
Consumption of audio content and podcasts explodes during confinement: 46% of French people say they listen to more of them. A new study reveals a 20% increase in digital audio listening thanks to media, with 8 out of 10 French people listening to digital audio compared to 6 out of 10 before confinement. This phenomenon can be explained by the absence of car journeys which used to favour radio but which are now being abandoned in favour of digital.
Paris Podcast Festival: a competition that celebrates French podcasts
For its second edition, the Paris Podcast Festival is launching a competition to reward podcast creators.
This year again, podcast aficionados will find at Paris Podcast Festival professional meetings, but also Masterclasses, previews… and the second official competition which will reward the best podcasts of 2019…Liiterature, cooking, digital technology, sex… There are all kinds of podcasts today. These audio creations that you can listen to anywhere, at anytime, on any subject are the delight of listeners and their creators. The Paris Podcast Festival is aimed at the latter. On the occasion of its second edition, which will take place from 18 to 20 October 2019 at the Gaîté Lyrique de Paris, it is launching a competition to reward podcast authors.
Audio content creators can compete in seven categories: fiction, conversation, learning, original music in a podcast, youth, documentary and French-language podcasts.
Each of these prizes will be awarded by a jury of professionals, with the exception of the Youth Podcast Prize that will be awarded by a jury composed exclusively of children. Note that an eighth prize will also be awarded. Called the “public prize”, it will be given following a vote of listeners and festivalgoers among the podcasts in competition, all categories combined.
